Volunteer

ASTEP is always looking for positive, motivated individuals who wish to make a difference in the life of a child. Volunteer Artist opportunities are available for ASTEP's active programs:

A number of volunteer opportunities are also available in and around New York City, particularly in our NYC office. From assisting with bookkeeping, to helping with our donor database and fundraising, there are a range of activities available to get you involved with ASTEP.

Soup Kitchen Initiative

Working and sharing with the homeless of New York can open one's eyes to how much beauty there is in each and every person. So much of the time we turn our heads out of embarrassment when we pass by a person begging for money, too nervous to look him or her in the eye. But what if we did? What if we took the time to have a conversation with this person, or going further, decided to share a gift? The Soup Kitchen serves as a ground for this idea, and allows the artist to simply share a piece of their soul.

ASTEP volunteers are organized to assist Every Third Sunday of the month at St. John The Divine in Manhattan. Volunteers will be assisting in prepping and serving food as well as impromptu performance pieces for attendees. The Soup Kitchen serves both a hot breakfast and lunch as well as a take-away brown bag meal to approximately 250-300 people from the NYC area.

Donations

Donations are, naturally, a significant means of contributing to ASTEP, providing us with the means to maintain our programs and to add new one's.

Our volunteer artists also need funding assistance in order to sponsor their trips overseas. You can make direct contributions to ASTEP, support our artists by visiting our Donate page or our Firstgiving.com fundraising hub which aggregates the personal fundraising pages for each volunteer.

ASTEP is also looking for donations of equipment and supplies, from computer equipment and cell phones, to clothes, stuffed animals, and dance shoes. View our Donate page for more info.
